Is non-adhesive signage tape wind and weather resistant?

Is non-adhesive signage tape wind resistant? When considering outdoor installations, it is always best to take into account weather phenomena, such as the sun, rain, temperature changes and, of course, the wind.

And this is relevant for many different activities: for example, there are paints meant for indoor and outdoor use, materials suitable for indoor and outdoor use, and so on.

And this obviously also applies to professional adhesive products: some are designed exclusively for indoor use, others can also be used outdoors.

This includes non-adhesive signage tape, which is commonly used both indoors and outdoors. Hence the not-necessarily-obvious question: is non-adhesive signage tape wind resistant?

What are the uses of non-adhesive signage tape?

Non-adhesive signage tape is any signage strips, available in different graphics and different colours, which serve to temporarily delineate specific areas.

Very often, for example, non-adhesive signage tape is used to border an area designated as a small temporary worksite which only professionals can access.

Other times these strips are used to delimit a dangerous zone, such as a section of pavement placed under a roof at risk of falling snow.

Or again, signage tape can be used for the preparation of special events, closing off, for example the entrance of a space on the occasion of its inauguration.

Not infrequently this tape is also used during parties, to trace an area temporarily used for sports activities, racing, vehicle parking, and so on.

Non-adhesive signage tape is, therefore, used during many different occasions, whenever there is a need to demarcate an area quickly, economically, and effectively, without, however, creating a physical barrier. It plays a different role than adhesive signage tape does, which instead demarcates an area at floor level.

Is non-adhesive signage tape wind resistant?

Often non-adhesive signage bands are used outdoors: in a construction site or road, to mark out a parking lot or an event area, and so on. In those cases, it is best to make sure that the tape can withstand the breeze or wind, without being torn off at the first gust.

In a normal situation, non-adhesive signage tape should not fear air currents at all. Considering that, on average, in Italy wind speeds hover between 2.5 and 5 meters per second (8,2 – 16,4 foot per second), there is no reason to fear any damage to the tape.

Provided, of course, that the tape is properly fastened: otherwise, it’s not so much the tearing of the tape that you should be worried about, but rather its simple untying from the chosen location.

Should you need to use it on particularly windy days or locations (for example, at high altitudes or along the coast) it will be best to make sure to secure the signage tape at a short distance, not leaving too much free space between one support and the other.

Which non-adhesive signage tape should you choose?

In our customized professional adhesive tape and double-sided adhesive e-commerce, there are two standard types of non-adhesive signage tape. The classic red and white signage tape, with longitudinal stripes, and the equally classic yellow and black signage tape, also striped.

In both cases, you will be dealing with non-adhesive PE signage bands, with rolls which measure 200 meters (656 ft) in length and 70 mm (2,7 in) in width.

However, you can also request custom non-adhesive signage tape, printing of your own graphic file. In this case there are no limits, with complete freedom of customization for the rolls.

You can then print on rolls with backgrounds of different colours, showing one or more repeated images on the tape: a warning, a logo, a notice, the name of an event or a company, and so on, going as far as making sure of photographic printing.
